We now have a Facebook page.  It seems to work for Doctrine Man! so I thought, why not?

Comments on this experiment are welcome.

  1. Madhu:

Yeah good luck and I hope it drives traffic, but I still find Facebook aesthetically displeasing. It’s ugly looking. Can’t understand its appeal….

  2. Madhu:

I have no written about twenty consecutive comments where I have said only negative things. Here is something positive to balance things out, karma wise:
    .
Episodes is a good show, but I may only like it because it has “Joey” from Friends on it, but in a more 2012ish role (I am hating on my usual topics right now and not sure what else the zenpundit crowd likes outside of Clausewitz.)

  3. J.ScottShipman:

    Hi Madhu,
    .
Facebook aesthetics aren’t great, but I’ve met/maintained contact with some great folks using the platform; Mr. Zen himself and I got to “know” one another via FB. When G+ came out, I thought it would be a better platform, but has been pretty lackluster.
    .
I’ve two book reviews in the pipeline, both military, and one is No Easy Day ; despite the complaints, it is a good book and doesn’t reveal any more than Act of Valor—I read it two short sittings and was struck by the humility of the author.
    .
I suspect Charles will peek out any time now with some wisdom/insight on the current situation in the Mideast and Northern Africa…
    .
If  I may suggest, when I get into the place you’re describing, I read an old, old book. Old books usually aren’t about anything popular today, so the change in perspective is often just the trick. Good poetry works, too, along with Shakespeare and the King James Bible—the rhythm and cadence is other-worldly.

“I suspect Charles will peek out any time now with some wisdom/insight on the current situation in the Mideast and Northern Africa…”

Been wondering that as well.   The video is certainly up his alley wrt idols, idolatry, and religion.  Maybe he’s reading up on the Coptics in Egypt and will unleash his learning in a day or two.

  5. Charles Cameron:

I’m certainly hoping to post some reflections on the whole sorry business, but there’s so much going on in so many directions that it’s hard to know where to begin…
    .
I think I’ll start with Benedict XVI, who was just in the Lebanon.

  6. Charles Cameron:

Okay, my piece on Benedict is up: Of films, riots and hatred I: Benedict XVI in Lebanon.
    .
It’s my 500th post (by my own unreliable count) on Zenpundit, and my first but unlikely to be my last on the recent turmoil.  I’ve wanted to wait until some of the dust had settled before tackling so difficult a topic, I’ve wanted to get past some rapids in my working life, and I’ve wanted in particular to make my “number” post a significant one.
    .
I find myself very much in accord with Benedict’s views as expressed, and think they provide an excellent starting point for further exploration.  There’s no film, no rioting, no hatred in it, and I think that’s the point. There’s a very great deal to say, though — to think, to consider.
