    I fear with the Syria intervention bringing us towards direct confrontation with Russia and some fabricated evidence soon to appear ‘proving’ Snowden is a Chinese asset Oceania will get back to being eternally at war with Eurasia/Eastasia to distract its citizenry.

    I think Putin’s Russia is all about protecting the monarchy, so a face-off with Russia comes down to who do you favor, Pussy Riot or Putin and the NSA?

    Do not know if the gentleman has any affiliation. A captain is quite junior in rank vice the a colonel in a staff planning job with an eye on a soft landing in retirement – he would not have gone through Leavenworth or Carlisle yet and if he was a real up and comer, he might be doing a graduate degree at a civilian institution.

    There is a robust literature on terrorism and profiling terrorists in the CT field already in existence, which the author is drawing upon. The basics have been known a long time, particularly in regard to the nuances of mental illness and terroris – some might say with writing The Possessed, Dostoyevskii was the first gifted “profiler” of terrorists.

    Could a “template” be misused? Certainly. One inhibition against using such a template which would have a psychological component from the perspective of authorities  is the sheer volume of ppl who will fit one in the United States – too expensive and too politically incorrect a demographic result if used on a systemic basis. Cheaper, easier ways for an out of control bureaucrat  to find pretexts to harass specific dissenters.
