Hammes<\/strong>, was a passionate advocate of fundamental reform for the military&#8217;s personnel system for review and promotion. One of his suggestions in his critique was the adoption of a 360 degree system of review. I found the concept intriguing since it has obvious application for any complex organization &#8211; corporations, universities, government agencies, public schools &#8211; any entity where the old, bureaucratic, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.isixsigma.com\/dictionary\/Zero_Defects-550.htm\">zero-defects<\/a>&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zero-defects_mentality\">review system <\/a>has run its course.<\/p>\n<p>After <a href=\"http:\/\/zenpundit.blogspot.com\/2006\/05\/leadership-resilience-and-ossification.html\">yesterday&#8217;s post, <\/a>I decided to go find out more about the 360 degree concept and picked up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0785260927\/qid=1146849133\/sr=1-2\/ref=sr_1_2\/104-3251169-1711941?s=books&#038;v=glance&amp;n=283155\">this<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.levybooks.com\/Bestseller\/Listings\/0601\/hc\/images\/360%20Degree%20Leader_jpg.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t a scholarly book &#8211; mostly of the business self-help variety &#8211; and it looks like a quick read. Enough for a general overview or introduction at least.
