I have a new piece up at Pragati Magazine<\/strong> \u00a0this morning, which focuses on a book review of Makers<\/strong> by Chris Anderson<\/strong>:<\/p>\n The Re-industrial Revolution\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n ….If anything, Anderson has managed to understate the velocity with which the technology is advancing and the creative uses to which users are putting their machines. Since the publication ofMakers<\/em>, a succession of news stories have revealed everything from Formlabs\u2019 slickly designed\u00a0Form 1 machine<\/a>\u00a0to users printing\u00a0functional (if fragile) assault rifles<\/a>,\u00a0car bodies<\/a>\u00a0and biomedical surgical replacements\u00a0for missing pieces of the human skull<\/a>. One gets the sense that the genie is out of the bottle.<\/strong><\/p>\n Anderson is not merely making a technologically oriented argument , but a profoundly cultural one. In his view, the existence of the\u00a0Maker<\/em>\u00a0movement<\/a>, operating on the collaborative, \u201copen-source\u201d ethos is an iterative, accelerative driver of economic change that complements the technology.
