{"id":2121,"date":"2007-02-13T17:17:00","date_gmt":"2007-02-13T17:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zenpundit.com\/?p=2121"},"modified":"2007-02-13T17:17:00","modified_gmt":"2007-02-13T17:17:00","slug":"2121","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/?p=2121","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>NORTH KOREAN NUKE DEAL<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Hard to say that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2007\/02\/13\/world\/asia\/13cnd-korea.html?ex=1329022800&#038;en=e55b580b656b8ace&amp;ei=5090&#038;partner=rssuserland&amp;emc=rss\">the Bush administration&#8217;s recently negotiated deal with North Korea <\/a>over <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2007\/02\/13\/AR2007021300130.html\">its nuclear weapons program <\/a>isn&#8217;t a positive step. Cautious optimism and use of the agreement as a platform on which to build toward removing nuclear materials and technology from North Korea is about the best we can hope for, short of launching a major war for regime change ( which we are not placed to do and no one would support, short of some reckless military action by Pyongyang). A few seeds placed in the working groups section of the agreement from which a larger, regional, security structure, perhaps an &#8221; East Asian NATO&#8221;, can grow.<\/p>\n<p>A good <a href=\"http:\/\/whirledview.typepad.com\/whirledview\/2007\/02\/and_then_there_.html\">round-up of links by <strong>CKR <\/strong>of <strong>Whirledview<\/strong> <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/theglitteringeye.com\/?p=2677\">sensible commentary by <strong>Dave Schuler<\/strong> of <strong>The Glittering Eye<\/strong><\/a>.
