Both look to be of considerable interest:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Artur Beifuss<\/strong> &#038; <strong>Francesco Trivini Bellini<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Branding-Terror-Logotypes-Iconography-Organizations\/dp\/1858946018\">Branding Terror: The Logotypes and Iconography of Insurgent Groups and Terrorist Organizations<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Asiem El Difraoui<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jihadica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/The-Jihad-of-Images.pdf\">The Jihad of Images<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Hat-tip <strong>Nico Prucha<\/strong> at <a href=\"http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/cwya3y4\">Jihadica<\/a>, and who or whatever pointed me to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2013\/05\/05\/branding-terror-book-artur-beifuss-francesco-trivini-bellini_n_3155314.html\">HuffPo<\/a> &#8212; idenitfy yourselves and be saluted!<\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p>The first image in the HuffPo slideshow for <strong>Branding Terror<\/strong> (lower image, below, AQIM) really hit me square between the eyes, because when I was in Mashhad, Iran, in the early seventies, I snarfed up a postcard with a very similar design &#8212; Shi&#8217;ite rather than Sunni, and not so distinctly violent (upper image):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/SPEC-Masshad-AQIM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/SPEC-Masshad-AQIM.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"SPEC Masshad AQIM\" width=\"591\" height=\"620\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21942\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/SPEC-Masshad-AQIM.png 591w, https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/SPEC-Masshad-AQIM-285x300.png 285w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 591px) 100vw, 591px\" \/><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Some things just don&#8217;t seem to change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[ by Charles Cameron &#8212; taking a break from my pressing writerly duties ] .
