{"id":2510,"date":"2007-12-05T18:08:37","date_gmt":"2007-12-05T18:08:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zenpundit.com\/?p=2510"},"modified":"2007-12-05T18:08:37","modified_gmt":"2007-12-05T18:08:37","slug":"kind-words","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/?p=2510","title":{"rendered":"Kind Words"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.progressivehistorians.com\/2007\/09\/about.html\">Jeremy Young<\/a><\/strong>, a.k.a. &#8220;<strong>Nonpartisan<\/strong>&#8220;, the founder\u00a0and editor\u00a0the respected and\u00a0popular, left-wing, history group blog, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.progressivehistorians.com\/\"><strong>Progressive Historians<\/strong><\/a>, had some kind words for me\u00a0when he was interviewed by <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.artsjournal.com\/quickstudy\/\">Scott McLemee<\/a><\/strong>, for <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/insidehighered.com\/views\/2007\/12\/05\/mclemee\">an article\u00a0 for <strong><em>Inside Higher Ed.com<\/em><\/strong><\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;I&#8217;m a liberal,&#8221; Young says. &#8220;<\/strong><strong>ZenPundit<\/strong><strong>&#8221; (Mark Safranski) is a conservative. So what? His history blog is one of the most best reads on the \u2018Net. Whether he&#8217;s discussing small wars theory, political history, or Jack Kerouac, he&#8217;s unfailingly thorough and offers a unique, insightful perspective on every issue he covers.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That was darn nice of Jeremy to offer up ( incidentally, Young has an article online over at <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/hnn.us\">HNN<\/a><\/strong>, &#8220;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/hnn.us\/articles\/45064.html\">A Historian Against Obama<\/a>&#8220;, arguing that progressive hopes\u00a0for a\u00a0<strong>Barack Obama<\/strong> administration\u00a0may be misplaced), particularly in a venue where readers were not likely to have heard of <strong><em>Zenpundit<\/em><\/strong>. I\u00a0think much the same way about visiting <strong>Progressive Historians<\/strong> where Young has a stable of\u00a0 talented contributors, mostly younger scholars, digging into a wide range of historical and political issues and frequently\u00a0engaging in vigorous debate. Despite my being on the conservative side of the spectrum I&#8217;ve never been made to feel anything but welcome in the comments section despite a wide divergence in political and economic\u00a0views ( very wide, in some instances, as many <strong>Progressive Historian<\/strong> bloggers are well to the Left of Young, to say nothing of me).<\/p>\n<p>This is how the blogosphere ought to be more often.
