Responses on Twitter were quick to invoke <em>1984<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p>Maduro crea el Viceministerio de la Suprema Felicidad del Pueblo (nombre como sacado de un libro de Orwell). Orwell lo predijo<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Arimeu Qojole (@ChapulinND) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChapulinND\/statuses\/393731016080125952\">October 25, 2013<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In Orwell&#8217;s <em>1984<\/em>, four ministries control Oceania:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<li>Minitrue is the Ministry of Truth, which controls literature and oversees propaganda\n<li>Minipax, the Ministry of Peace, oversees warfare\n<li>Miniplenty, the Ministry of Plenty, controls rationing of food and other goods, and\n<li>Miniluv, the Ministry of Love, deals appropriately with heretics and dissidents<\/li>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I disclaim any deep knowledge of Venezuelan politics, although <a href=\"www.guardian.co.uk\/world\/iran-blog\/2013\/mar\/07\/ahmadinejad-chavez-resurrected-too-far\"><strong>Ahmadinejad<\/strong>&#8216;s claim that <strong>Ch\u00e1vez<\/strong> would be resurrected to accompany the <strong>Mahdi<\/strong> and <strong>Christ<\/strong> when they return <\/a>certainly caught my attention&#8230;  but these literary references impress me.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, the Venezuelan tweeters above suggest that Orwell &#8220;predicted&#8221; the Venezuelan Vice-Ministry, and that it will be followed next by Venezuelan versiuons of <strong>Minitrue <\/strong>and <strong>Miniluv<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p><strong>George Orwell<\/strong>, the man of the hour \/ day \/ year \/ century \/ millennium&#8230; ?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[ by Charles Cameron &#8212; 1984 comes to Venezuela? ] .
