Edited by <strong>Robert Strassler<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Strassler&#8217;s &#8220;Landmark&#8221; series are gems. After enjoying\u00a0this year&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/chicagoboyz.net\/archives\/category\/xenophon-roundtable\">Xenophon Roundtable <\/a>at <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/chicagoboyz.net\/\">Chicago Boyz<\/a><\/strong>, I was glad to see <strong>Hellenika<\/strong> newly released. A little pricey though in hardcover.<\/p>\n<p>I am adding more books to my <strong>Antilibrary<\/strong>, keeping in\u00a0the spirit of\u00a0\u00a0<strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fooledbyrandomness.com\/\">Nassim Nicholas Taleb<\/a><\/strong>, from his book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1400063515?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=zenpundit-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=1400063515\"><strong>The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable<\/strong><\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" width=\"1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=zenpundit-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=1400063515\" height=\"1\" \/>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8230;.The writer Umberto Eco belongs to that small class of scholars who are encyclopedic, insightful, and nondull. he is the owner of a large personal library ( containing thirty thousand books), and separates vistors into two categories: those who react with \u2018Wow! Signore professore dottore Eco, what a library you have! How many of these books have you read?&#8217; and others &#8211; a very small minority- who get the point that a private library is not an ego boosting appendage but a research tool. Read books are far less valuable than unread ones. The library should contain as much of <em>what you do not know <\/em>as your financial means, mortgage rates, and the currently tight real estate market allow you to put there. You wil accumulate more knowledge and more books as you grow older, and the growing number of unread books on the shelves will look at you menacingly. Indeed, the more you know, the larger the rows of unread books. Let us call the collection of unread books an <em>antilibrary<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While the real estate markets are no longer &#8220;tight&#8221;, the substance still applies.
