{"id":3658,"date":"2010-12-31T05:07:09","date_gmt":"2010-12-31T05:07:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zenpundit.com\/?p=3658"},"modified":"2010-12-31T05:12:26","modified_gmt":"2010-12-31T05:12:26","slug":"warriors-of-the-spirit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/?p=3658","title":{"rendered":"Warriors of the Spirit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[ by <strong>Charles Cameron<\/strong> ]<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a very different approach&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been preparing to write up some of the episodes that represent how warm and close relations between Muslims and Christians can at times be \u2013 the <strong>meeting of St Francis with the Sultan Malik al-Kamil<\/strong>, the period of considerable tolerance and artistic flourishing <strong>under Umayyad rule in Cordoba<\/strong> \u2013 and I have to say I&#8217;m getting very impatient to see this film:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/chicagoboyz.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/Of-gods-and-men-poster.jpg\" alt=\"film poster for \" width=\"360\" height=\"489\" \/><\/p>\n<p>.<br \/>\nIf you would like to understand why the <strong>Qur&#8217;an<\/strong> (5:82) says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The nearest to the faithful are those who say &#8220;We are Christians. That is because there are priests and monks among them and because they are free of pride.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>May I recommend you either read John Kiser&#8217;s <strong>The Monks of Tibhirine: Faith. Love and Terror in Algeria<\/strong> &#8212; or, when it opens in your part of the world, go see <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Of_Gods_and_Men_(film)\">Of Gods and Men<\/a><\/strong>.
