Pithy, simple, factual. I wish <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StateDept\">@StateDept<\/a> would start doing the same. <a href=\"http:\/\/t.co\/IjrEd4DTvd\">pic.twitter.com\/IjrEd4DTvd<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Luke Coffey (@LukeDCoffey) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LukeDCoffey\/status\/577416881491021824\">March 16, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Luke Coffey<\/strong> thinks it&#8217;s &#8220;brilliant&#8221; and wishes the <strong>US Department of State<\/strong> did likewise.<\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Pithy, simple, factual&#8221; part of the DQ is its direct juxtaposition of one text or image with another, inviting, allowing, begging tbe mind to make the appropriate leap from one to the other.<\/p>\n<p>That leap can in fact be, as here, from &#8220;before&#8221; to &#8220;after&#8221; &#8212; but there are other leaps, other forms it can take:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<li>question and answer\n<li>cause and effect\n<li>microcosm and macrocosm\n<li>form and function\n<li>reality (imitating) art\n<li>verbal and visual\n<li>sacred and secular<\/li>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>and many more. At times, as here, <strong>DoubleQuotes<\/strong> can be used to make a point, at times to raise questions &#8212; to compare and contrast, or to elicit and formulate analogies and metaphors.<\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p><strong>DoubleQuotes<\/strong> are found at the intersection between two ideas &#8212; <\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/koestler-model.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/koestler-model.png\" alt=\"koestler-model\" width=\"384\" height=\"336\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-44017\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/koestler-model.png 384w, https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/koestler-model-300x263.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 384px) 100vw, 384px\" \/><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8212; which is also the locus of significant creativity.
