Parker<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Restoration of Rome<\/strong> by <a href=\"https:\/\/kclpure.kcl.ac.uk\/portal\/peter.heather.html\"><strong>Peter Heather<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Interestingly enough, the author of <strong>The Restoration of Rome<\/strong> is a professor at <strong>King&#8217;s College London<\/strong> which is also home to the War Studies Department at which a number of friends of <strong>ZP<\/strong> have studied and whose scholars\u00a0have produced many fine books on strategy and military history. Professor Heather has included an array of excellent color photographs in <strong>The<\/strong> <strong>Restoration of Rome<\/strong>, an expensive choice that few publishers these days willingly go along with but which enhance the readers enjoyment. He is free with the inclusion of maps as well.<\/p>\n<p>I am not familiar with Peiper, though he seemed to have been a swashbuckling character who had\u00a0\u00a0earned a reputation for extreme bravery and recklessness on the battlefield<strong>. <\/strong>A convicted\u00a0war criminal in the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Malmedy_massacre\"><strong>Malmedy Massacre<\/strong> <\/a>who had also served on the personal staff of <strong>Heinrich Himmler,<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Peiper died under mysterious circumstances in a raging gun battle in 1976 in <strong>Traves, France<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[by Mark Safranski \/ &#8220;zen&#8220;] \u00a0\u00a0 Hitler&#8217;s Warrior: The Life and Wars of SS Colonel Jochen Peiper\u00a0by Danny S.
