{"id":51921,"date":"2016-08-14T20:39:05","date_gmt":"2016-08-14T20:39:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zenpundit.com\/?p=51921"},"modified":"2016-08-14T20:39:05","modified_gmt":"2016-08-14T20:39:05","slug":"sunday-surprise-ok-it-always-bugged-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/?p=51921","title":{"rendered":"Sunday surprise &#8212; Ok it always bugged me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[ by <strong>Charles Cameron<\/strong> &#8212; is the universe geocentric? &#8212; a movie question ]<br \/>\n.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, last Sunday I talked about the <strong>opening credits<\/strong> for <a href=\"http:\/\/zenpundit.com\/?p=51843\">Damages and House of Cards<\/a>: in this post I turn to <strong>studio logos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It has long bugged me that the universe is portrayed by <strong>Universal <\/strong>as consisting of one planet, with the occasional space-y feel behind it &#8212;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eXRsNYKc-Xk\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8212; so I thought I&#8217;d mention how much I prefer the <strong>Orion <\/strong>logo &#8212;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HJInIOz9GQs\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe> <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8212; which doesn&#8217;t even claim to be universal, but is certainly nebular, nebulous.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, I feel better already.<\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p>If you want to dig more deeply into the <strong>Universal <\/strong>logo, there are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.closinglogos.com\/page\/Logo+Variations+-+Universal+Pictures\">eighty or so screenshot versions here<\/a>, of which one at least suggests awareness of other worlds &#8212;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/et.jpg\" alt=\"et\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-51983\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/et.jpg 600w, https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/et-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8212; although it&#8217;s a bit strange to see the <strong>Amblin <\/strong>bicycle with ET in the basket traversing the earth, when we&#8217;re more accustomed to it crossing the moon.<\/p>\n<p>And okay, I have to admit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universalpictures.com\/assets\/video\/universal-logo-video-1980.mp4\">this one is more cosmic than most<\/a>.
