Analyses show that the temperature warmed to the melting point as an enormous storm pumped an intense pulse of heat through the Greenland Sea.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Although a rosy future beckons to those of us who believe this &#8220;intense pulse of heat&#8221; is but the precursor to the Mediterranean arctic I&#8217;m imaginatively vacationing in, twenty years hence, a more sober assessment might be grim, as is the graphic accompanying <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ZLabe\/status\/967838618252320768\/photo\/1\">this tweet from <strong>Jack Labe<\/strong><\/a> quoted in the WaPo piece &#8212;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/arctic-temp.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-57992\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/arctic-temp.jpg 600w, https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/arctic-temp-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Grim.<\/p>\n<p>The grimness, of course, is simply the result of a graphical choice of colors &#8212; it could be quite cheery on a white background, in reds and oranges with cerulean blue as the highlight in the center.<\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p>And there&#8217;s the question of &#8220;global warming&#8221; implicit in all this &#8212; but for my purposes here on <strong>Zenpundit<\/strong>, that &#8220;invincible summer&#8221; in the midst of winter which Camus found within himself is what I&#8217;m working on.
