{"id":60113,"date":"2018-07-12T21:47:54","date_gmt":"2018-07-12T21:47:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zenpundit.com\/?p=60113"},"modified":"2018-07-12T21:48:18","modified_gmt":"2018-07-12T21:48:18","slug":"a-doublequote-ish-strzok-and-kavanaugh-parallelism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/?p=60113","title":{"rendered":"A DoubleQuote-ish Strzok and Kavanaugh parallelism?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[ By <strong>Charles Cameron<\/strong> &#8212; if the parallelism I see isn&#8217;t a mirage, it would seem highly relevant to both men and related issues ]<br \/>\n.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Peter Strzok and Brett Kavanaugh:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Strzok-Kavanaugh.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"449\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-60123\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Strzok-Kavanaugh.png 600w, https:\/\/zenpundit.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Strzok-Kavanaugh-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll try to keep this brief, and won&#8217;t use my usual <strong>DoubleQuotes<\/strong> graphical formalism, which would be costly in both time and space.<\/p>\n<p>Here we go:<\/p>\n<p>It strikes me that there&#8217;s a parallelism between the issues swirling around the nomination of <strong>Brett Kavanaugh<\/strong>, Judge of the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to the Supreme Court, and those concerning FBI agent<strong> Peter Strzok<\/strong>, formerly Chief of the FBI&#8217;s Counterespionage Section in the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees joint hearing today..<\/p>\n<p>The parallelism can best be expressed in ternms of a question: can a professional in the field of justice holding strong political opinions credibaly claim to remain unbiased when in professional pursuit of justice?<\/p>\n<p>In the case of Agent Strzok, Democrats would <strong>very much prefer the answer to be Yes<\/strong>, while Republicans would like the answer to be <strong>an incredulous No<\/strong> &#8212; while presumably in the case of Judge Kavanaugh, Democrats would tend to <strong>the incredulous No side<\/strong>, while Republicans would prefer a <strong>resounding Yes<\/strong>. No doubt there are more subtleties here, but I&#8217;m no lawyer and this is the best I can manage. <\/p>\n<p>That quibble aside, the two situations apparently fall into different silos, and I haven&#8217;t seen anyone bringing the two situations together in the hope that one would illuminate the other. <\/p>\n<p>Have I simply missed the relevant materials, or does no one else wish to admit the parallelism?
