Trump (@realDonaldTrump) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDonaldTrump\/status\/832708293516632065?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 17, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Certain media outlets are listed as enemies, which is pretty close to calling them targets.. <\/p>\n<p>Remember <strong>Nixon<\/strong>&#8216;s enemies list?<\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p>Okay, then there&#8217;s this tweet, from <strong>Alex Jones<\/strong> of InfoWars:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">On Periscope, which is owned by Twitter, Alex Jones tells supporters to get their \u201cbattle rifles\u201d ready against antifa, the mainstream media, and \u201cChicom operatives\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OBHSFc3ofC\">https:\/\/t.co\/OBHSFc3ofC<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ntQbh9IKxz\">pic.twitter.com\/ntQbh9IKxz<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Media Matters (@mmfa) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mmfa\/status\/1029477795561463808?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 14, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Let&#8217;s give that a little more context &#8212; <strong>Alex Jones<\/strong> ups the ante:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We\u2019re under attack and you know that, and you pointed out mainstream media is the enemy.<\/p>\n<p>But now it\u2019s time to act on the enemy before they do a false flag. I know the Justice Department&#8217;s crippled, a bunch of followers and cowards. But there\u2019s groups, there\u2019s grand juries, there\u2019s &#8212; you called for it and it\u2019s time politically and economically and judiciously and legally and criminally to move against these people. It\u2019s got to be done now. Get together the people you know aren\u2019t traitors, and aren\u2019t cowards, and aren\u2019t hedging their frickin\u2019 bets like all these other assholes do, and let\u2019s go, let\u2019s do it. Because they\u2019re coming. Now, in your wisdom you may be playing possum and waiting for them to come in. But America needs to know that they\u2019ve got their little pathetic commie red teams ready. And they\u2019ve got their targets picked out: the sheriffs, the judges, the police chiefs, the patriots, the veterans, the talk show hosts, everybody. And everyone\u2019s going to be amazed when they come and when those cowards come and it\u2019s going to hit in the middle of the night, and they\u2019re coming. And they\u2019re coming. And they\u2019re coming.<\/p>\n<p>They think they can really take down America. And this is it. So, people need to have their battle rifles and everything ready at their bedsides and you got to be ready because the media is so disciplined in their deception. Antifa attacked all these people at the White House, beat up reporters, beat up women, children, no coverage. And they\u2019ve got discipline folks, they\u2019ve got criminal discipline because they\u2019re a bunch of followers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m suggesting with this <strong>DoubleTwweet<\/strong> that <strong>Alex Jones<\/strong> is the compulsive &#8220;id&#8221; of Trump&#8217;s repeated attacks on the &#8220;faux&#8221; media as &#8220;the enemy of the people&#8221;  &#8212; essentially putting a target on the backs of those media listed, and their hournalists..<\/p>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p>In the historical background, almost buried in the hiss of defective memory, we hear the voice of <strong>Nikita Khrushchev<\/strong>. As the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/news\/daily-comment\/trump-and-the-enemies-of-the-people\">New Yorker points out<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Nikita Khrushchev, in his memoirs, observed that Joseph Stalin, his despotic and bloody-minded predecessor, referred to \u201ceveryone who didn\u2019t agree with him as an \u2018enemy of the people.\u2019\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And here&#8217;s our chance to find out what that phrase, enemy of the people, may lead to:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;As a result, several hundred thousand honest people perished,\u201d Khrushchev said, underestimating the number of dead from Stalin\u2019s mass repressions by many millions. \u201cEveryone lived in fear in those days. Everyone expected that at any moment there would be a knock on the door in the middle of the night and that knock on the door would prove fatal.\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p>Now that&#8217;s a <strong>dangerous cascade<\/strong>, don&#8217;t you think, from Trump&#8217;s identification of certain &#8220;enemies of the people&#8221; via Alex Jones&#8217; call for regular folks to have their &#8220;battle rifles&#8221; ready &#8212; via Khrushchev&#8217;s finding an earlier Russian echo of Trump&#8217;s phrase in Stalin&#8217;s, to Stalin&#8217;s tens of millions dead..<\/p>\n<p>Take a deep enough <strong>breath<\/strong>..<\/p>\n<p>Synonyms for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=shiver&#038;rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS777US777&#038;oq=shiver\"><strong>shiver<\/strong><\/a>, the noun:\t<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>tremble, quiver, shake, shudder, quaver, quake, tremor, twitch<\/b>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There&#8217;s quite a bit of poetry in that list. And..<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shiver<\/strong>, the verb:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>shake slightly and uncontrollably as a result of being cold, frightened, or excited.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;d say that cascade <strong>frightens me<\/strong>, with maybe some <strong>excitement<\/strong> peering out from behind the <strong>fright<\/strong>, just because in it there&#8217;s a premonition of conflict.. oh, and <strong>fright<\/strong> rhymes with <strong>excite<\/strong>..<\/p>\n<p>Let me let you in on a secret: the <strong>poetry <\/strong>may be a distraction from the <strong>fright<\/strong>, but if so it&#8217;s <strong>a welcome distraction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[ by Charles Cameron &#8212; a cascade from dangerous words to deathly deeds ] .
