I think if they camn draw the arc from nationalism to populism to statism to authoritarianism to Trumpism, they&#8217;ve got something there ..<br \/>\nFlannery: We have a crime syndicate in the west wing ..<br \/>\nI think they could have hammered him and sickled him to death ..*****<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll not bother to load the video clips themselves, but for the record, here&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-b71f2eYdTc\">Trump inviting Russia to hack Hillary&#8217;s emails<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JqfQ_kDOrIY&#038;feature=youtu.be\">Hillary inviting China to hack Trump&#8217;s tax returns<\/a> &#8212; a <strong>DoubleQuote<\/strong>, albeit an obvious one &#8212; structurally equivalent to a cinematic flashback. Thomas More reproves Roper for his infidelity with the words:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>For Wales? Yes, I&#8217;d give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety&#8217;s sake!\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>**<\/p>\n<p>That <strong>William Safire-Barr<\/strong> business, from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salon.com\/2019\/03\/26\/cover-up-attorney-general-bill-barr-strikes-again_partner\/\">Cover-up Attorney General Bill Barr strikes again<\/a> &#8212; one of those crucial rhymes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Back in 1992, the last time Bill Barr was U.S. attorney general, iconic New York Times writer William Safire referred to him as \u201cCoverup-General Barr\u201d because of his role in burying evidence of then-President George H.W. Bush\u2019s involvement in \u201cIraqgate\u201d and \u201cIron-Contra.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8212; and another <strong>Barr <\/strong>quote, from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2019\/04\/mueller-barr-and-their-pre-trump-friendship\/588151\/\">The Complicated Friendship of Robert Mueller and William Barr<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Figliuzzi described the dynamic between Mueller and Barr as one of \u201ca boy scout\u201d (Mueller) versus \u201ca street fighter\u201d (Barr). &#8230; \u201cMueller is a guy who plays by the rules, and he was playing by the rules in this report,\u201d Figliuzzi told me. \u201cHe kind of trusts that the system will take care of itself, and he kicks his report over across the street to DOJ.
