TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES

Lightning has fried my internet connection and blogging and email can now only be performed from an “undisclosed location”. Your patience is appreciated until we can return you to your regularly scheduled blog.

  1. Sean:

we need to work on ‘secure’ in the place of ‘undisclosed’. too many ZenPauses in weblogging! 😉

    Hey Sean,

    Indeed!

My network cards, ethernet cables and probably the modem were fried (lightning hit the roof or the ground right next to the house). My neighbor was playing an electric guitar at the time and was mildly electrocuted -received a strong zap from the strike.

A Comcast guy is coming out again to try and help Mrs. Z. get things up running ( her business is, naturally, all online), hopefully by tonight. If not then I probably won’t have ISP service until next week :O(

Same thing happened to us three summers ago — I had just left for a four-week stint in Boston. CINCHOUSE called to say that we had a lightning strike; it hit the heater exhaust vent on the roof, crossed over to the cable system, and exited out through the ground to our cable telephone. So EVERYTHING connected to the cable (TVs, PCs, telephones, VCRs) were all cooked…. Insurance covered replacements under our homeowner policy (and remains the biggest claim I’ve ever filed on homeowners).

Filing tomorrow Shane…I think all told, it was around $120 -160 in toasted hardware. Could have been worse.
