Dinner With Deichman
The esteemed Shane liveblogged our pierogies and beer consumption, both of which was ample. Glad to catch him as he passed through Chicago. Even happier to have not been walloped with an icestorm while driving to O’Hare. LOL!

Sheesh. That’s ten minutes or so away from me. Where did you go and how were the pierogi?

Possum Pub — and the pierogies were excellent! We each got a variety (mushroom and cheese, spinach and meat, etc.).

Dave,
Man! I’m sorry! I had no idea that you were that close to O’Hare – I picked up Shane and we randomly headed south on Mannheim until we hit a pizza place ( which was take out only) and then went next door to Possum’s.
Pierogi was good – as heavy as the Slavic accent of the girl behind the bar. Personally, I liked the kraut and mushroom and onion and potato best.
Now I know. A lot of bloggers pass through O’Hare – I’ve missed connecting with Dan and a few others, next time I can get out there, I’ll make certain you get the call as well.

That would be great. I’m just a quick hop up the Kennedy to O’Hare.

Is there a Finnish restaurant or even a Finnish bar in Chicago? I don’t know of one. Nor Estonian nor Latvian.

We need a mini-blogcon for a larger get-together the next time somebody is flying in – maybe with, say, a month’s notice or so we can get all the schedules to work and a nice location selected.
Hmmm….Baltic cuisine is a tall order Cheryl….Western or Eastern Slavic is easier but I’ll see what I can find…I thought there used to be some Lithuanian parishes in Chicago when I was a kid but perhaps they have disappeared to the collar counties.

There are still good Lithuanian restaurants down around 70th Street. Tulpe’s still operating, isn’t it?

Tons of Polish, Russian, Georgian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Bosnian here on the Northwest Side.

Georgian sounds interesting….so does Croatian. Never had either.

"…as long as they’ve got frozen vodka…"
Ha! Spoken like someone who has chilled their vodka on the snowy ledge outside their Soviet hotel window :O)
