A short burst:
Marc at American Future has zeroed in on censorship in Britain where the MSM there is increasingly reluctant to publish criticism of Islamist extremism. Creeping dhimmitude of the postmodern, urban, intellectual.
And now for an interesting juxtaposition….
Collounsbury on “moderate Muslims” – quite accurately pointing out that what most Westerners think of as “moderate” Muslims are actually secularized ” liberals” who are a tiny minority, without much influence and who are often at odds with actual moderate Muslims who are what Gilles Kepel called ” the devout middle-class”. Non-violent but pious, orderly, socially conservative, believers.
that’s it.

On the first article: the Alasdair article is missing from the website, though it did make the presses. The Telegraph letters refer to it.
There’s a long letter from an actual moderate Muslim in response, though apparently a website, presumably reactionary and Muslim, wrongly accused the Telegraph and Dr. Sookhdeo of calling for the banning of the Koran.
And this “dhimmitude” nonsense? Pure hysteria.

Perhaps not my best expression of the idea.
However it is something myself and my colleagues at ‘Aqoul have began to try to focus on. The Pious Middle I have named it. I am not sure I would create the same graphic as the Razib fellow, but I can’t say his typology is wrong per se.
Re the American Future conclusions, well, I’d prefer some more facts before drawing any conclusions, although in American Chicken Little Blogistan of course that is much under-rated act.
I agree with Dave – this ‘dhimmitude’ creeping blather is pure nonsense.

Pretty much what it sounds like, Mark. You know the kind of hyperbolic Lefty talk about a “Christian Taliban” and such? Well for CRTs that’s actually not too far off the mark, though there are too few of them to be worth worrying much about. See Wikipedia for more.
