COL Pat Lang on Twitter
[ by Charles Cameron ]
Excellent news! COL Patrick Lang has now signed up on Twitter, so a quick and easy way to know when he’s posted at Sic Semper Tyrranis is to follow him @pat_lang. I hope he’ll post the occasional quick comment on — or pointer to — breaking news there, too.

Okay, that’s the main message here — but there’s also an amusing aside to be made.
I tend to pride myself (I’m afraid that’s probably the right word) on my humility — so you can imagine how I felt when I discovered earlier today that Twitter was doing my humility for me:
That’s right: as a follower of COL Lang, I rate precisely zero.
Humility by twitter — is our technology getting wise to us at last?

Funny, Charles.
.
I’ve been listening to Col. Lang on John Batchelor’s show. Pundita introduced me to his show and the variety of guests is amazing.
.
We live in a world of intellectual riches, easily obtainable. Need to remind myself of that from time to time because I tend to be a bit of a grumpy person. Working in a hospital can do that to you, unfortunately.

Hi, Madhu:
.
I’ve been reading COL Lang for quite a while now, and comment occasionally on his blog. He’s the guy who introduced Arabic language studies at West Point, among other things, and has quite a "feel for the region" and some interesting and well-informed friends who guest-blog with him — among them anthropologist Dr. Adam Silverman, who was the Field Social Scientist and Team Leader for Human Terrain Team Iraq 6 for a year (2007-08), then US Army Human Terrain System Strategic Advisor, and is now the Culture and Foreign Language Advisor at the US Army War College.
.
On the grump side, and with intent to procure an opening in the clouds — I think you once encouraged me to post poems on ZP — did you see the haiku I wrote in response to a post of yours on ChicagoBoyz?

How interesting! I didn’t know all that about Col. Lang. Intellectual riches, indeed.
.
Don’t mind the grump part. I tend to exaggerate a bit. It’s all part of imagining myself as literarly.
.
Was that yours? Oh, I like that haiku very much.
.
I am goint to start reading more poetry.

Ugh. More coffee. Tired and error prone today….
.
Also, taking a massive break from the internet and blogs for a bit. Too much reading for me to do and, honestly, I tend to get a bit sick of the internet after some time surfing….
