    Then there’s U.S. News & World Report-15 hours ago today, with a piece titled Trump’s Self-Inflicted Wounds. One of MSNBC’s anchor-commentators used the same phrase today, while Chris Hayes spoke of a “snake biting its tail.”

    This is also the day Ted Nugent was reported to have renounced violent rhetoric in the wake of the shooting of GOP congressmen at baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia. He credits his wife for nudging him in this direction.

    That’s good news from my POV — but it amuses me that his new motto for the USA involves a paradox:

    Here’s the battle cry for America — zero violence.

    Trump’s tantrums speak volumes

    After noting she frequently advises her readers “not to overreact, to maintain perspective”, Ruth Marcus today offers us a number of possible outcomes of “Trump’s tantrums” we may want to brace ourselves for:

    I’m not sure for what, exactly. President Trump firing Rod J. Rosenstein or taking moves that would force the deputy attorney general, and perhaps others, to quit? Firing special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, whose probe has pushed Trump to this frenzied state? Using his pardon power in an effort to shut down the investigation, on the theory that Mueller would then have nothing left to probe?

    And then the kicker, the ouroboros of pardon:

    Pardoning himself, a move of contested legality that even Richard Nixon balked at?

    I rest my case. Oh, but I’m sure there wilol be more..
