STUMBLED ACROSS AN INTERESTING BLOG

Called NuSapiens: Biology, Technology, Philosophy The proprietor is certainly a more liberal fellow than I am ( not a high bar to meet, admittedly) but he/she devotes the blog to an array of congruent issues that you find here at Zenpundit, plus some different ones that are just plain intriguing. This blog would be, I think, right up the alley of praktike, Whirledview, Dr. Von, Armchair Generalist and perhaps Mithras while Pundita, riting on the wall , Marc Schulman, Dave, Dan and the gentry at Coming Anarchy will find an intelligent raconteur to debate ( or perhaps bait, as the case may be).

I left a comment on the “ Occidentalist” post and I encourge you to peruse. Good visual format and Gravatar enabled as well.

Thanks for the tip. I’m glad to find another person who has read that book. I loved it.

  2. Dave Schuler Says:

Thanks, Mark, I’ll take a look at it. Let me toss one back to you: have you taken a look at Daniel Starr yet? I linked to it as part of my morning rundown the other day and I’ve been following it faithfully. Verrry interesting.

  3. Dave Schuler Says:

My, NuSapiens has a lot of (it seems to me) unsupported assumptions, doesn’t he/she?

  4. mark Says:

    hey Dave !

Took a brief look at Starr, seemed interesting but I will take a deeper read tonight and perhaps leave a few comments.

Nusapiens has responded. I’m not sure he reckons whom the west is dealing with on the margins. You can talk to the Muslim Brotherhood because they ( generally) eschew violence and are gradualists with radical ends. You can’t talk to Zarqawi.

C’mon…I did take the time to post at Nusapien but you can’t really take this person seriously.

    Hey Barnabus

Some blogs are good for their writing. Others for their arguments and some are good for the subjects they toss up into the spotlight that I might otherwise overlook because they have a blogger whose frame of reference is partly outside mine.

Sometimes this is a canary in the mineshft thing, alerting me to subjects the other side is going to be discussing full throttle when a meme picks up steam. You have to cruise small blogs to stay ahead of the curve – by the time you read it at Atrios or Kos or Yglesias or Kevin Drum’s blogs it’s already there, framed and packaged to be digested by the MSM, pro and con.

I read lots of ppl for their utility – hearing about _Occidentalism_ was useful. I might not have heard about it for a while otherwise.
