RECOMMENDED READING LIST
I saw this a while back when I was too pressed for time but it is excellent – so here it is:
Dr. Tom Odom put together a reading list on counterinsurgency entitled ” A Former FAO Bookshelf” at The Small Wars Council. I have to endorse this insightful blend of books political, tactical, cultural and historical -it’s a great start on a syllabus for new college courses on war in a globalized world. Check it out.

Again, thanks for another informative link that will deplete my book budget further :-).
“Shake Hands With The Devil” is a great read, I can send it to you if you want to check it out someday. Not only is it a great “eyewitness to genocide” portrayal of government-enacted slaughter…. but his insights into the UN peacekeeping machinery, the difficulties and unique challenges faced by the commander on the ground and the opportunities to accomplish something of worth without waiting for higher authorization, a problem the US commanders seemed to have in Bosnia/Kosovo, I suppose because of NATO sensibilities and multi-national snafus..

My pleasure. ZenPundit has become more than anything else (great blog to read, interesting debates to behold, etc) a highly coveted place of learning… especially when I browse the archives.

Browse away Eddie. You’ll be pleased to know that I’m having a database started this week so someday, the archives might actually be frickin’ organized by topic ;o)
Don’t hold your breath though. I don’t expect to unleash major changes until midsummer at the earliest.
