200,000 HITS !

Today, someone from Washington, D.C. was the 200,000th visitor to Zenpundit. They stayed for about a minute and a half, reading a post about Tom Barnett’s ideas.

Small beer, I realize, compared to the daily traffic of the top ten 800 pound gorillas of the blogosphere. Nevertheless, it is very flattering that, over the course of a few years, close to a quarter-million times, other people felt it was a worthy expenditure of their time to stop by, read a little, or even comment. If Zenpundit was a book, I’d be a market success.

Thank you all very, very, much!

it’s a great blog – you always learn something from a visit. it always makes me laugh when journalists here (london) talk about how low grade the blogosphere is compared to their “high-brow” newspapers. yet practically none of them read any of the sort of stuff you cover here or think about the future in any meaningful way. i’ve been visiting for about 6 months properly – what i would find really helpful is if you did a sort of re-introduction – something on what your influences are, what you’re trying to achieve, what books you think are most important in your area – it would be a good way of educating us latecomers…

    Now this is very strange.

I don’t like to sign up for more sites on the intertubes than I really need to. I tried to start a blog on Blogger when they were having major, major problems, so I’m not at all fond of them and therefore never got myself an identity there.

But when I posted just before, there was the option among others:

    Choose an identity
o cheryl (Your Blogger display name)

And, as I’m writing this thinking that I prefer to spell my name capitalized, it now appears below in just that form.

Something new via Google? The server is reading my mind?

At least when you click my name, there’s no information there. Or at least there isn’t now.

Well earned, I say. The 800 lb gorilla’s, as often as not, pander to emotions rather than engaging in anything intellectual or logical beyond some prejudice or another. In essence, pissing off the other side seems to be the ideal.

    Congratulations.

Congrats! I think yours was the first blog I commented on(anonymously back then), and the second that I started to check daily (after InstaPundit). It has been worth it.

    Well done, Mark!
You know I’m a lurker…Oddly, I’d naively assumed your blog to be visited by millions! Guess that stems from its quality? Great shot of the Rosetta Stone, something I’ve always felt was a wonder of the ancient world, in your Linguistic Extinction post. I, too, mourn the loss of any passing word, let alone language. If I’d studied anything else in school, it would have been Linguistics/Etymology.
