On the Road: Genghis Khan Exhibition

A brief note. I am on the road in Texas, and spent the afternoon yesteady at the Genghis Khan Exhibition, which will be coming to the Field Museum in Chicago, circa 2012. The exhibit is heavy on the military artifacts of the Mongols, including real and reproduced weapons, armor, cavalry gear, siege engines, burial objects and clothing. Highly recommended!

Just finished a great book on Genghis Khan last month http://www.amazon.com/Genghis-Khan-Making-Modern-World/dp/0609809644/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313282436&sr=8-1

I would second Fred’s recommendation that Genghis Khan: The Making of the Modern World is an excellent read. Beyond a great warrior and adminstrator of his expanding empire, he was also the most successful and prolific spreader of human genes than the world has ever seen. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2003/02/0214_030214_genghis.html
