FRANCE SAYS ” NYET ” The UN has returned to its historic role of impotence and a forum for propaganda as a result of a lack of consensus among the Security Council members. Having functioned as designed by its founders only during the Korean War and the Gulf War and its immediate aftermath the UN fell victim to French great power aspirations and clashing Realpolitik. All that was missing was an appearance by Chirac to bang his shoe on the lectern on live television. It is not the end of the world, it’s business as usual.
