I know, it’s a day or two old, but Netanyahu / Obama is a ping-pong match with quite a bit of top spin to it, in which:

And the bomb? It’s a cartoon bomb of the kind you’d see in one of MAD magazine’s old Spy vs Spy pages — or in the headgear of a certain religious figure disrespectfully portrayed by Jyllands-Posten.

I hadn’t realized that comic book satire had entered the religion vs science debate — foolish of me, it’s an obvious medium for the task:

I have to say, neither these nor the Charlie Hebdo and Jyllands-Posten cartoons disturb me personally — but in our discussions of free speech and blasphemy, I think the voices of those who may be offended deserve a hearing.

    It is apparently safer for the Electronic Frontier Foundation to put headphones on the US bald eagle as featured in the seal of the National Security Agency

    … than it is for a Kiwi bar-keeper to put headphones on the Buddha while advertising an event at his bar in Rangoon, Burma.

    A little something to chew on.

    It seems plausible that the Buddha, had he wished to wear headphones, would have chosen the noise-canceling kind.
