Anyone else having Trouble with 2025 ?
I’m getting errors in trying to download the Global Trends 2025: A Transformed World from the DNI.gov/NIC site despite having up to date Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Is anyone else having a similar problem ?
UPDATE:
Thanks Charles and Dan.
In the meantime, while we wait for the USG to post a working link, here is some early analysis by Jeff at IntelFusion.

UPDATE IV.
I’m still sifting the report but I’m not impressed. Aside from the cautious positions on possible developments heavily rooted in presentist analysis I kind of get the drift that the possibilities have not been looked at too closely as to how their interactions might or might not be countervailing with one another. Sort of an implicit assumption of synergism.

Yup. I downloaded it, think it must have skipped out maybe a third of the way through and couldn’t open it.

The whole site was iffy earlier in the day. Weird.
Perhaps the government should make torrents out of all large documents it produces, so that p2p technology offloads the burden of serving them into the swarm of the citizenry.

Shameless self-promotion aside, we’ve got the report at the Atlantic Council, along with a speech by NIC chair Thomas Fingar and some blog posts by yours truly.

If you’re still having trouble, try this link – takes you to a copy of the report on the Guardian website.

It downloaded fine, by the look of it, all 200+ pages of it.
.
I am going to get to it … . Mid-’09, probably. It does look good.
.
But the online Clausewitz and the in-person Federalist Papers book groups I am going to be doing are going to keep me busy.

I’ve put my own thoughts on the report on <a href="http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/archives/making_predictions_is_hard/">Outside the Beltway</a>. I am not amused.
.
Whaddaya say we put together our own report? I’m pretty sure that the commenters here could do no worse.

hi Dave,
.
Excellent post – which I will link to and comment on in a bit as you raised an interesting point about historians ( I agree they needed some hard scientists, physicists, engineers, systems thinkers).
.
On your idea of a roundtable type report – I think that is excellent and I’d readily participate except the concept roughly much sums up a chapter I’m writing for Michael Tanji’s upcoming anthology on strategic threat assessment and I’d rather leave my ideas on that score for the book (out Feb. 2009, give or take).
