Bleary Eyed
Up late doing readings for a degree program that I’m doing for my day job and had to bound out of bed this morning because the upstairs neighbor’s furnace leaked water through the ceiling of the garage ( which now has to be replaced) and contractors had to get into the garage to try to access the leak. I have to wonder what nut of an architect designed this mess as the neighbor is not directly above our unit.

Your garage has to be replaced? Or just the ceiling? Great fun….
Hey, if you were doing an advanced degree in hard sciences, I guarantee you the pages to be read would be FAR less!

do you live in the garage, Mark? what all this coming and going has to do with you?
but I just love it how anytime something wrong is going on with their shelter, people always blame the architect. maybe our whole profession should be renamed "scapegoat".

In all likelihood the building wasn’t really designed it was just built. Architects aren’t required, you know, and frequently developers just do their own designing.

thank you, Dave

Knowing the arbitrary system of planning & zoning that prevails in suburban Chicago it’s likely that Dave is right and these units were designed on a cocktail napkin in a ramshackle collar county bar.
.
Just the ceiling and at least one electric line though I’m concerned that the water damage may have stretched to the edge of the kitchen now.

sorry, Mark. that sucks. is it safe to assume they’re liable to pay for it?

Hi Sean,
.
Yes, fortunately. The neighbor is somewhat odd but his insurance is covering the claim
