Of a Seemingly Vital Pinterest

I have no interest in signing up but the social media site Pinterest is the new Twitter.

That is if Twitter was dominated by fans of Julia Child, Martha Stewart and Glamour magazine. Mrs. Zenpundit drew my attention to Pinterest as she is already addicted to “pinning”.

Not much appeal there yet to the part of the population more likely to grow a handlebar mustache, but that does not mean that it’s popularity and influencing effect of Pinterest could not become very significant. I can see a politician or public figure someday going viral on Pinterest due to a faux pas or an image that enrages half the world’s population.

Watch, I give it two years – probably less since the temptation to leverage it during an election year to pull off a negative attack should prove irresistible.

    Hi Zen,

Agree on the election year temptations. And, I won’t be setting up an account anytime soon—though the handlebar mustache is a big maybe:))

Weirdly seen loads of references to this site of late. Couple of my (female) friends have fallen in love with it. Will be interesting to see where it goes. Certainly different to the traditional setup for social media.

That site looks bloody awful.  It must be a girl thing.

Mark, apparently you’ve not seen http://gentlemint.com/

    Brava, Mrs. Zenpundit!
I know this is terribly un-PC but many a female blog (mine old blog was like this) seems to be a bullentin board to pin up pretty things. I did this, too, with songs and novel passages and, especially, pictures of rooms I like.
Yet, oddly, I don’t think I will use this site. I don’t care for the layout but I get the attraction. Makes me want to go back to bloggin at my old blog. I’m not male-bashing or anything, but I do miss the feminine now that I spend a certain amount of time on milblogs. I just miss the purely feminine.
