Very, very interesting. Thank you.

OK. Cool.
I suppose there are people who deny this stuff is going on in a huge way, and this will show them they are wrong.
So. Now what?
What would one of those made in 1928 have looked at? It would have tracked radio and automobile and electric power penetration, and said the world was changing. Which would have been true. But the answer to "So what?" was not obvious then and is not obvious now.
It is not even obvious to me that David Ogilvy is not as important as Dale Carnegie, using them as paradigmatic figures.
But the question of what to do in response, personally and professionally … .
Listening for ideas on that one.

Good find!
I concur that my online students as a rule outperform my live classes in participation and substantive comments as well as essays. Maybe, the requirement to put all comments to pen helps stimulate the brain to higher cogitative levels.

It would have looked the same except the velocity would have been much slower. While all warfare is generational, the time between generations is accelerating, which is the cousin to velocity.

So, it’s a small world. I think Critt Jarvis used to attend Dave Winer’s open meetings at the Berkman Center for Internet and Soceity circa 2004/5? I used to attend the Thursday meetings when I was still living in Boston…..

Yes, that is the same Crittenden Jarvis. Critt signed me up for some kind of OPML account from the lab, despite my not having any programming skills and no one even knowing at the time what OPML was when he brought it out of "podcamp"

Hi guys! Yup, inspired by Winer early on: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/note.php?note_id=126494730741&ref=mf
Lex, in run-don’t-walk fashion: get <a href="http://www.chrisbrogan.com/now-a-new-york-times-bestseller/"><em>Trust Agents</em></a> as well as <a href="http://socialnomics.net/2009/08/11/statistics-show-social-media-is-bigger-than-you-think/"><em>Socialnomics</em></a>. Read, review. Add Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid to the mix and you can write a DIY strategic plan for a new market ecosystem as well as a SysAmin force, to complement the efforts of DoEE.
Gotta go. Got meeting in Honduras the US Ambassador as well as USAID director and staff, you know? heh.
Thanks, as always, for your help,

Critt, most excellent. I will put them on the list. But, the list is very long. In fact, I have "Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid" sitting at home, with a layer of dust accumulating on top of it. Someone else will have to "write a DIY strategic plan for a new market ecosystem as well as a SysAmin force, to complement the efforts of DoEE" — since that sounds like it would require more exertion than I can muster. But when YOU write it, I will read it. And when you execute it, I will blog about it.

Excellent post; just the insight I need to understand the dynamics of social media.

I don’t know, it sure sounds like you tried. Very commendable effort from what I hear.Â
